Parent Training
When supporting a child with unique communication needs, it can be difficult to know where to start and the journey can feel overwhelming. Ramsey Speech Pathology offers two structured parent training programs:
More Than Words
Circle of Security - Parenting
Please note: We are not currently running parent groups, however these programs can be adapted for 1:1 sessions with you.
more than words
Designed for parents of autistic children aged five and under, More Than Words addresses the unique needs of children with social communication differences. The program provides you with the tools, strategies, and support you need to help your child interact meaningfully with others, connect with the world around them, and reach their full communication potential. More Than Words does this by empowering you to help your child along their own unique developmental pathway.
Some of the things you'll learn in the program include:
How to set appropriate and realistic goals for your child
How to facilitate meaningful interactions with your child
Using pictures and print to help your child understand
How to talk so that your child understands you
Strategies for nurturing your child’s play style
Ways to help your child identify allies/friends
